On 1 May 2026, Rachel and Danny said “I do” during a deeply romantic wedding at Peak Edge Hotel. - How did you first meet?

We first met 11 years ago when I was introduced to Danny through one of my best friends, who also happens to be his cousin. We crossed paths a few times at family parties before life took us in different directions and we lost touch.Then, four years ago, we met again at another family party, and everything changed. What started as a chance reunion soon became something much more. We spent some time doing long distance, but we knew we wanted to build a future together.We both made the move to the beautiful Peak District, where we started our life together. Looking back, it’s amazing how a chance meeting all those years ago led us to where we are today.
- What first drew you to Peak Edge Hotel as your wedding venue?

As soon as we stepped into the hotel, we knew it was the perfect place for us. The beautiful décor, welcoming staff, and incredible food instantly won us over. Everything feels so special without ever being over the top—it has a warmth and comfort that makes it feel like home.Every time we return, we get that same feeling all over again. It holds such a special place in our hearts. And, as an animal lover, one of my favourite things is seeing the Highland cows in the neighbouring field—they’re always a highlight of every visit!
- Was there a moment during your visit when you both thought, “This is the one”?

The moment we looked around the wedding space and the beautiful outdoor area, we knew. It was the first venue where we could truly picture ourselves getting married, surrounded by all of our family and friends. Everything flowed so naturally, and we instantly felt comfortable. For the first time, I found myself mentally planning our wedding as we walked around—something that hadn’t happened at any other venue.After our viewing, we stayed for a meal in the bar, and that completely sealed the deal. The food was incredible and lived up to everything else we’d experienced. From the venue itself to the atmosphere, the staff, and the dining, everything was simply perfect.
- What were the most important elements to you when planning your wedding day?

Complete calm and lack of stress.
- How did you personalise the spaces at Peak Edge to make your day feel uniquely yours?

We wanted our wedding to truly reflect who we are as a couple, so we filled the day with lots of personal touches. Danny is a huge train enthusiast, so we had a custom train headboard sign made—which even travelled on a real train on the morning of our wedding!Rather than traditional table names, we named each table after National Trust properties we’ve visited together, celebrating some of our favourite adventures. We also had a beautiful welcome mirror, personalised beer mats, and portraits of our two dogs displayed in the bar area, making the venue feel even more personal and uniquely us.To keep everyone entertained throughout the day, we also set up a selection of garden games outside. They were a brilliant addition, giving our guests a chance to relax, have fun, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while creating even more special memories.For the evening celebration, music had to be a big part of the day. We chose a fantastic live band because we wanted everyone up on the dance floor, celebrating with us, and they didn’t disappoint. We also had a photo booth, which captured so many fun moments and has given us endless laughs every time we look back through the photos. It’s one of our favourite keepsakes from an unforgettable day.
- When you look back on your wedding day, which moments or images come to mind first?

Walking down the aisle with my mum to our outdoor ceremony is a moment I’ll treasure forever. Seeing all of our family and friends gathered together, with the beautiful Highland cows in the background and the sun shining, made it feel almost magical. Then, looking up and seeing my husband-to-be waiting for me at the end of the aisle, everything else faded away. It was such a special, emotional moment and one I’ll never forget.
- What would you say to couples considering Peak Edge for their wedding?

Honestly, I have no negatives at all. The staff are incredible—so friendly, helpful, and nothing is ever too much trouble. They made everything run so smoothly, allowing us to relax and enjoy every moment of our perfect day.I can’t recommend this venue highly enough. So many of our guests commented on how beautiful it was, how amazing the food was, and how much they had enjoyed the entire day. Hearing that meant the world to us because, while we had our dream wedding, it was just as important that our family and friends had an unforgettable experience too.If you’re looking for a venue that is beautiful, welcoming, and truly delivers on every level, don’t hesitate—secure your date!
